Doctor’s Formulas Curcumin 200mg Dietary Supplement 225ml.
CURCUMIN 200mg is a dietary supplement containing Turmeric root extract (Curcuma longa), with a content of 95% in curcuminoids and the main representative of these is curcumin.
Liposomal formulation technology results in greater absorption and bioavailability of active substances and vitamins.
Liposomes present several advantages when it comes to delivering vitamins and nutritional supplements:
- they protect the active substance from oxidation and degradation in the acidic pH of the stomach
- increase absorption and bioavailability compared to free and other conventional pharmaceutical carriers (ie tablets, suspensions and capsules).
Liposomes
- Liposomes belong to the colloidal dispersions of bioactive molecule transport systems that have the ability to transport them, improving their efficiency. The dimensions of liposomes depending on the method of their preparation and the physicochemical characteristics of their structural units are of the order of nanometers up to the order of a few micrometers.
- Historically, in the early 1960s, there was a tendency to study the biophysical properties of colloidal systems that had a lipid and phospholipid composition, with the aim of understanding the biophysical functions of cells. The biophysicist A.D. Bangham studied lipid colloidal dispersions to simulate cell membranes and study their functionality.
- Liposomes, since they are prepared from structural materials like those of our cells, have advantages related to the ‘friendliness’ of human tissues. They have the ability to transport lipophilic bioactive molecules that do not dissolve easily in aqueous media and therefore have absorption and bioavailability problems, e.g. vitamins, curcumin, etc., but also water-soluble or amphiphilic molecules, improve in terms of dissolution rate and absorption them through the gastrointestinal tract.
- Liposomes can and do transport bioactive substances and improve their penetration through the barriers of the gastrointestinal tract and are effective ‘vehicles’ for the transport of bioactive molecules.
- Liposomal technology and especially the innovative technology of supramolecular phospholipid complexes with a lipid bilayer structure can improve the therapeutic effectiveness of nutritional supplements and are an innovation in this field, giving high added value to the final dosage form.
